Our village is preparing for a royal parade with decorations and music- until we find out that the queen wants the event to have no music at all! The townspeople must work together to save the parade and prove the value of music! This interactive theatre event invites children into the story to help solve a problem and experiment with all the ways we can make music!

The art installation’s opening and reception will take place immediately after Robert Fleitz’s recital.

We are so excited to be collaborating with Composer-in-Residence Brian Dozier Brown and new media artist Eli Goldstone present an installation based on the stories of Lakeland’s most famous feature — its lakes! Audiences are invited to submit and share their stores, and then come check out the installation throughout the duration of the festival.

The Swan City Piano Festival is delighted to present the final of three LIVE concerts, featuring the pianist Eunmi Ko!

The concert will take place at First Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, at 3PM on Sunday, June 20th. Ko will perform an exciting program of contemporary piano music by Matthew Schreibeis, Vera Ivanova, John Liberatore, Christopher Goddard, and others.

Hailed as “exceedingly interesting” (New York Concert Review), "kaleidoscopic"(San Francisco Classical Voice),  “excellent” (Gramophone), pianist Eunmi Ko concertizes as a recitalist and chamber musician throughout Asia, Europe, and North America. Praised for original interpretations, abundances of piano technique, and interesting programming, she performs a wide range of piano repertoire from premieres of new works by living composers to the traditional and rarely played piano works. Ko holds graduate degrees (MM and DMA) from the Eastman School of Music, and she is the Associate Professor at the University of South Florida.

Greg Satterthwaite Solo Recital [LIVE]

The Swan City Piano Festival is excited to present the second of three concerts for its first ever live season, featuring jazz pianist Dr. Greg Satterthwaite!

The concert will take place at Harrison School for the Arts at 7PM on June 19. Dr. Satterthwaite will perform a fabulous recital of jazz standards and popular songs. 

Dr. Greg Satterthwaite, a native of Kingston, Jamaica, is a jazz pianist who earned his DMA from the University of North Texas in Jazz Piano Performance, a Master of Arts in Commercial Music from Florida Atlantic University, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Miami. He has studied with Stephen Scott, Ron Miller, Pat Coil, Quincy Davis, Brad Leali, Lynn Seaton, and Dave Meder. Dr. Satterthwaite has taught at Southeastern University as an Assistant Professor of Music. He will join the faculty at The University of Georgia in the fall as an Assistant Professor of Jazz Piano and African American Studies. As a scholarly contribution to the field of music, he presented “Beyond Fourths and Pentatonics: A Critical Analysis of Selected Recordings of McCoy Tyner 1962 to 1963” at the 2021 Jazz Education Network Conference. Dr. Satterthwaite’s debut album, Who I Am, is available on most major streaming platforms and he recently recorded with jazz bassist, Rodney Whitaker. He enjoys attending live music performances, drinking Blue Mountain coffee, and spending time with family.

The Swan City Piano Festival is delighted to present the first of three LIVE concerts, featuring Duo Beaux Arts!

The concert will take place at First Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, at 7PM on June 18th. The duo will feature a wonderful program of Classical and Romantic favorites by Beethoven, Poulenc, Bizet, Chopin and Mendelssohn. 

Duo Beaux Arts was formed in 2008 by renowned husband and wife concert pianists Dr. Catherine Lan and Steinway Artist Tao Lin. The Duo presents over 100 concerts domestically and internationally each year performing in France, Switzerland, Spain, Netherlands, Estonia, Finland,

Yvonne Chen Solo Recital [ONLINE]

Swan City Piano Festival is excited to present pianist Yvonne Chen, in a solo streaming recital! Yvonne will also be premiering a Swan City Piano Festival Commission by Lakeland native, LA-based electronic producer and DJ Alexia Riner.

A native of suburban Washington, D.C., Ms. Chen received performance degrees from the Juilliard School (New York, NY) and Rice University's Shepherd School of Music (Houston, TX). In Houston she performs as pianist and founder of contemporary music collective Loop38 and as a soloist in arts and music spaces across the city such as Rothko Chapel, the Wortham Center, and the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. She recently finished her doctoral studies at Rice University while on Piano Faculty at St. John’s School.

Acclaimed Australian pianist Maxwell Foster presents a solo recital, hosted by the Swan City Piano Festival!

Maxwell Foster has gained his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees at the Juilliard School, and his Master of Musical Arts degree at Yale University. Maxwell is now pursuing his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins under the guidance of Yong-hi Moon.

This recital is free of charge, and will take place on Youtube and Zoom. A Zoom and Youtube Link will be sent to you by email before the concert.
